A spiritual awakening doesn’t always feel peaceful or clear. More often, it feels like a roller coaster ride. It can be exhilarating and may also include what’s known as a “Dark Night of the Soul.” The transformational aspects involve a kind of unraveling—of beliefs, identity, and the way you’ve always seen the world.
If you’ve been feeling the shift, questioning everything, or sensing a deeper truth within, you’re not alone.
Here are 20 Signs You Are Awakening to Your True Nature
1. Feelings of a major inner shift and a new way of seeing life. This includes a broader perspective on life and an expanded worldview.
2. Emotional highs and lows—joy, clarity, and giddiness, then confusion, fear, and uncertainty. This is temporary emotional dysregulation as you adjust to the inner changes.
3. Feeling “different” or less able to relate to old friends and family.
4. A desire for deeper, more meaningful connections and conversations with others, coupled with impatience with superficial ones.
5. Feeling a disconnect between your outer life and inner experience. Your inner life is expanding faster than you can express it.
6. A deep sense of connection to everything. The phrase “We are One” is part of your experience, not merely a concept.
7. A natural pull toward healthier, more balanced living, driven by an unconscious, intuitive desire.
8. Spiritual clichés and old religious concepts, such as “being reborn” and “seeing the light,” take on new experiential significance.
9. A new awareness of being on a journey emerges—a specific path begins to reveal itself, each with its own divine timing.
10. Synchronicities and meaningful coincidences increase at a ridiculous rate, feeling magical and fun.
11. A need to slow down and spend time in reflection, reducing external commitments to create quiet moments for meditation or journaling.
12. Protectiveness toward your emerging inner self. It’s like a gestation period before birthing the new you. I called it my “NOW baby.”
13. A desire to live more authentically. A need to identify and realign values and priorities with this emerging self, affecting relationships with family and friends. Greater awareness of and intolerance for one’s own inconsistencies and inauthentic words and actions.
14. A spiritual quest begins to grow from within, helping you discover how you fit into the big picture and understand your greater purpose in life.
15. New appreciation for our connection to nature—oceans, forests, sunsets, animals, the seasons, and the moon's cycles.
16. More consistent awareness of our gratitude, appreciation, inner joy, and peace, regardless of circumstances.
17. Opening the creative self. A desire to connect and express more creativity in your life.
18. Increased trust in your inner guidance and intuition.
19. Rapid personal growth and intense curiosity drive a need to devour books on a broader range of subjects, including various aspects of spirituality, creativity, philosophy, science, and cutting-edge ideas.
20. A desire to contribute, serve, and make a meaningful impact.
