What Is Your Bluebirds' Song?

When I lived back east for a few years, I was fortunate enough to have a Bluebird nest in my own backyard. This was my first encounter with my much-loved birds:

I looked out the window this morning and was met with an amazing sight: four or more beautiful Bluebirds frolicked in my backyard! They lined up at the feeder, flitted from tree to tree, and even hung in midair, flapping their azure-blue wings. It looked like a scene from a Disney movie. I half expected Snow White to come strolling out from the trees. It was a magical moment. It might be magical to anyone who saw this sight outside their window, but for me, there is even more to the story. You must understand The Bluebirds' Song.

The Bluebirds' Song is a story I wrote many years ago, describing my journey of personal transformation. It's about leaving the safety and security of your comfort zone to venture into the unknown. It's also about the painful process of change and the strength and support of friendship. Since then, Bluebirds have come to represent for me my most authentic self and my highest potential. I can't tell you the number of times Bluebirds have shown up in my life since then to inspire me. Sometimes, like today, they show up physically and profoundly, and sometimes they appear on a flag or in a song at just the right moment. Having a symbol or a metaphor to help you get in touch with your source of inspiration and power can be exciting and helps keep life magical.

My question for you is: What is your bluebird's song? How do you access your greatest potential? Do you have a vision of your authentic self? Do you have a name, a metaphor, or a powerful symbol to help you access that part of yourself whenever you need to?

I invite you to spend time getting to know this part of yourself better. You can do this by spending time in nature, keeping a journal, taking quiet time to meditate, and getting in touch with your inner spirit. I encourage you to find your own symbol or name that brings this part of yourself to life! If you nurture it, you will be amazed at how much guidance and support you can receive when you least expect it. I would love to hear from any of you who have stories about magical moments that have helped you stay connected to your authentic spirit.

Your challenge is to begin listening to what holds you back. Simply notice, not argue or struggle. Once you can notice the pigeon voice (or ego), you can start making conscious choices about whether to believe it.
