Have you ever gotten off track or felt derailed? Ever wandered from your original goal or intention? Ever felt frustrated by the time you seemed to waste on unclear priorities, or by how life’s circumstances can yank you off track or lull you into a completely different direction than you planned? Have you wasted even more time beating yourself up for this most common of human transgressions?
I thought so! I’m writing today to give you hope. To remind you that regrets are the only true waste of your time. That it’s all too easy to find yourself adrift from your goals—feeling unfocused and unmotivated. But I’m also here to tell you that it’s never too late to start again. You can ALWAYS return to your Center. And your time away is never wasted, because from that life experience, from our delays and detours, we continually bring back new wisdom or insight, and maybe even a few new friends or other unexpected joys.
Here is a comforting truth to carry with you through the hardest transitions, changes, or detours: “You cannot NOT live your purpose. You can only delay your own Peace of Mind.”
And we humans are excellent at that! But know that the minute you are ready, you can return to your Center, reconnect with the place of peace and calm within you, and find clarity and focus. It’s always there, waiting for us to get out of our own way.
I have been on a very exciting and meaningful journey over the past year, full of major transitions as I manifest my dream of moving back to California. I have also taken many side paths, wandered down roads full of adventure, and been pushed and pulled by life circumstances that have drawn me far from my own Center. But this morning, I stopped to take a breath, pulled out my phone, and listened to my own meditation, which I created over a year ago. I listened to the 20-minute morning meditation and was instantly returned to my core, reminded again of how much peace you can create within yourself and the world when you take the time to reconnect, reflect, and refocus.
OK, it feels a bit odd to be writing a plug for my own meditation, but the point is that it felt like I was listening to someone completely different from myself—someone from a different time and place. And this woman reminded me of what my own Center could be like—clear, calm, and purposeful in my daily intention.
The other point is that it’s like that for you, too. You get to keep reconnecting, reinventing, and refocusing. My meditation is just one way to do that. Only you know what can best help you do that for yourself. Maybe it’s a walk in nature, time to write in your journal, yoga, exercise, etc. What’s important is that you find what that is for you.
Then forgive yourself for wandering off, and know that you can bring yourself back right now, as soon as you are ready! As “she” says on the recording: “Each day is a clean slate from which you can create a new passion, a new attitude, and a new set of intentions for your future.” Start now!
