Life in Adventure Landby Wendy Mackowski, Inner North Coaching Has anyone ever told you to "get lost"? Maybe you should take them up on it! There is nothing like getting lost to open us up to a whole new perspective. We suddenly become very aware of our surroundings - the trees, the buildings, the street signs, the people, and the landmarks - anything that will bring back a sense of the familiar. Being lost can be scary - or it can be an adventure! During these new and lazy days of summer I'm going to invite you to choose the latter: to view life and your experiences as an ADVENTURE this month. What would it be like to view life as an adventure? To wake up in the morning excited to see how the day unfolds? Take a day and deliberately leave it unplanned. Adventures work best when you have no expectations. Allow yourself to go with the flow. Completely open yourself to whatever happens. Look with new eyes at things that you are usually blind to - the beautiful oak tree in your neighbor's yard, the different types of architecture of the houses on 4th St., all the litter lining the highways. It also allows you to trust your intuition more. For instance, get into the car and drive without a destination. Follow your gut down roads you've never explored. See where you end up and what you can find interesting there. Another way to create an adventure is when you do have a "plan" but the plan gets messed up somehow (you have a flat tire, your date stands you up, you show up at the movies and it's sold out.) You can either fuss and fume and get mad or you can switch to adventure mode - "Isn't this interesting - an opportunity for a new adventure!" Sometimes getting lost can take you to places you never knew existed. Here are just a few of the benefits of an adventure attitude:
